Who Are We?
The Artists of the West Elks (AWE) is a non-profit 501 c3 organization that unites artists, art lovers and the greater community. We support novice, emerging and professional artists while promoting the visual arts in the West Elks region through education, events and artistic excellence.
We are located in the West Elk Mountains area of Colorado, including Crested Butte, Gunnison, Lake City, Paonia, and the surrounding areas.
To support our new mission AWE membership is now free — open to anyone interested in the success of visual arts. We will continue to execute our core programs: AWEfests, CB Artwalks, the inAWE Gallery, periodic member shows and other worthwhile ideas that support our mission. Membership in AWE will be required for participation in any AWE event. Participation in AWE events and marketing efforts will be optional and each event will be paid for by those participating AWE artists or businesses.
AWE is the place for
you to make big art ideas happen! We seek leaders for the AWE Board to conceive
and execute bright ideas in a team spirit. Beyond this, the Board hopes to
develop and provide our community with a strong and coherent voice for the
visual arts.
